National Easter Convention 2024: The Power of The Cross

The Church of Pentecost recently held its annual Easter Convention, themed “The Power of the Cross,” drawing inspiration from Colossians 2:13-14. The convention aimed to delve into the profound significance of the cross and its transformative power in the lives of believers. It was a time of reflection, worship, and spiritual rejuvenation as attendees gathered to commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The event featured insightful sermons, uplifting music, and fervent prayers, providing a meaningful opportunity for spiritual growth and renewal.

The 5-day Easter convention commenced on Wednesday, 27th March, and ended on Sunday, 31st March. The Easter convention commenced on Wednesday evening with a compelling exposition by Rev. Enoch Lartey Adjewi, the National Head of Hong Kong on the historical background of Easter and the convention’s theme. Rev. Adjewi passionately delved into the significance of Easter and its relevance to our lives as Christians. “On the second day, Thursday evening, Elder Seth Yeboah Botchway, the presiding elder of Hung Hom PIWC, delivered a compelling message on “Man’s Need of a Saviour.'”

The third day, Good Friday had two sessions. The first session, held in the afternoon on Zoom, featured Elder Emmanuel Ofosu, the presiding elder for Tuen Mun PIWC, who shared a message on “Why Jesus Qualifies as the Savior?” In his sermon, he highlighted how the full deity and full humanity of Jesus Christ are anchored in scripture. The day’s second session was a joint service for all three churches at the Hung Hom PIWC auditorium. Our National head, Rev. Enoch focused on the cost of our salvation and the redemptive work of the cross, sharing on the topic “The Atoning Death.”

On Saturday, the afternoon session focused on “The Benefits of the Death of Christ,” and the evening session focused on “Good News.” These messages were preached by Elder Benjamin Annor and Elder Dr. Daniel Yamoah Agyemang, respectively.

On Easter Sunday, our national leader concluded the Easter convention with a powerful message titled “Freedom Through the Cross.” He emphatically highlighted portions of scripture that unequivocally prove the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ and the immense power of his redemptive work on the cross. Rev. Enoch Lartey Adjewi fervently admonished the congregation to boldly walk in the reality of the freedom we have received through the cross. The service culminated with a compelling altar call
